People believe what they are told

Bill Gates will be knighted by the Queen of England later this year. Virtually every single report of that honor was accompanied by the list of other US knights including President Ronald Reagan, Colin Powell, and even Steven Spielberg. Also each of those reports are also state that Americans cannot “really” be knighted; their honor is purely honorary. Why? Because every school child and adult American knows it is in the US constitution. But is it?

Article 1, Section 9, Clause 8 reads: “No Title of Nobility shall be granted by the United States: And no Person holding any Office of Profit or Trust under them, shall, without the Consent of the Congress, accept of any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince, or foreign State.”

So that means the US government can’t grant titles, it says nothing about Americans having titles. So of course they can use the title if they like.

This is just another example of the collective ignorance of most people who never read the source material for themselves and just take other people’s words for things. This has to stop. People need to quit taking cue on what they are supposed to think or know from others and think for themselves.
